The 5th Seoul Tourism Souvenir Contest

 

Hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government, organized by the Seoul Design Foundation, and sponsored by Hotel Lotte Co., Ltd. and Hanhwa Hotels & Resorts,

 the 5th Seoul Tourism Souvenir Contest welcomes everyone to participate in the development and promotion of practical and high-quality souvenirs that represent Seoul.

- Date: April 24, 2017 (Fri), 16:00-18:00

- Venue: 2F, DDP Design Lab, Seminar Room (Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station, Exit 1)

※ Purchase and delivery of winning works should be completed by October 30. Failure to deliver the products will result in the revocation of awards.
※ The above schedule is subject to change depending on the circumstances of the hosting organization.

Themes that symbolize or represent Seoul

■ Eligibility
- There are no restrictions on the eligibility of entrants. Entrants must submit their products under legal names. Entrants may be individuals or teams (up to two members) and are permitted to submit one product, with up to five subtypes, for each theme.
※ There are no restrictions on the number of pieces per product.


■ How to Submit
- Register by email (seoul_ts@seouldesign.or.kr) and submit your work to the Seoul Design Foundation.
※ Entrants must register online and submit their works in person at the Seoul Design Foundation.
- Submission Period
① Email Registration
▶ Submit Forms 1 and 2 (Submission Form and Product Description Form) between July 7 (Fri) and July 13 (Thurs), 2017 / Email: seoul_ts@seouldesign.or.kr
② In-Person Submission
▶ Submit product(s), images, and Forms 1, 2, 3, and 4 between July 14 (Fri) and July 17 (Mon), 2017 / Submissions will continue to be accepted until 17:00 on July 17.

□ Design & Craft Industry Team, Seoul Design Foundation (office in charge of the Seoul Tourism Souvenir Contest)
※ Remarks:
1. The submission location is subject to change. Please make sure to check the Seoul Design Foundation website after July 5 for the correct location.
2. In order to participate in the contest, entrants MUST register online AND submit their works to the Seoul Design Foundation.
3. Application forms and products will NOT be accepted by regular mail.

■ Documents to Submit
- Documents are available for download on the Seoul Design Foundation website (http://www.seouldesign.or.kr) Under “Notices (공지사항),” search for “contest (공모전)” to find the downloadable forms.

 ① (Form 1) Submission Form – one copy per product

 ② (Form 2) Product Description Form (includes storytelling ideas and product images) – eight copies per product

 ③ (Form 3) List of Products – one copy (provides the specifications and images of all submitted products, to be featured in the image catalog)

 ④ (Form 4) Presentation Board (one board per product; attach copy of form printed on A4 paper with a vertical layout on a foam board; image resolution should be 300 dpi or greater)

 ⑤ Two CDs or USBs containing digital copies of the four forms listed above and product images (JPEG or TIF format, A4 size or greater, 300 dpi or greater)

 ⑥ Product (must be ready for mass production)


 

 ※ A Submission Form should be submitted for each theme.

 ※ Products that are not ready for mass production or have not been copyrighted will NOT be accepted.

 ※ Each applicant (team) shall submit NO MORE THAN five products per theme (Seoullo7107, Seoul’s symbolic icons, Hotel Lotte Co., Ltd., and Hanhwa Hotels & Resorts)

 ※ In order to prevent damage, fragile products must be wrapped in protective packaging before submission.

 ※ Submitted documents and products will NOT be returned. Forms submitted in the wrong format will NOT be accepted.


 


■ Evaluation: Three Rounds (citizens/tourists and experts)

- Judges: citizens/tourists and experts (product planners, travel agents, design experts, sponsors, etc.)

- Period: July 20 ~ August 30, 2017

 - Experts will select the finalists based on the evaluations conducted by tourists and citizens in the second round.

■ Notes

- Plagiarized entries or entries discovered to have serious grounds for disqualification will be disqualified and any awards and prizes will be revoked.

- Entries previously entered into other contests are NOT eligible. Entries containing plagiarized or appropriated materials and entries previously entered into other contests will be disqualified and any awards, prizes, and benefits will be revoked.

- Award-winning works must be delivered to the purchasing organization/company by October 30. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of benefits.

- Winners (creators) will retain all copyrights to their works.

- Entries that do not meet the guidelines will NOT be accepted.

- Submitted documents and products will NOT be returned.

- Awards and prizes may be withheld or reduced if it is determined that entries do not merit recognition.

- Entrants will be responsible for entries found to be in violation of copyrights.

- The numbers of awards and prizes may be changed if it is determined that entries do not merit recognition.

- The contest schedule, including the evaluations, presentation of awards, and announcements, may be subject to change depending on the circumstances of the hosting organization.

Notes on the use of open content 

 

 ① Logo

 The image graphic of legs in the logo may be altered, as long as the size, proportion, and angles noted in the Seoullo open content guide remain unchanged.

· Participants may express the legs and feet of Seoul citizens by adding designs or details to the graphic.

 

 ② Font

 The use of Seoul Hangang (서울한강체) font, which is used in the Seoullo logo, is recommended.

 

 ③ Colors

 Various colors may be applied to the souvenirs, in consideration of the colors proposed in the Seoullo open content guide.

 

 ④ Graphic resources

 Although it was not specified in the Seoullo open content guide, participants are permitted to develop and apply graphic resources that highlight the characteristics of Seoullo.

 E.g., plants planted along Seoullo, the concept of walking, and tourist attractions located in surrounding areas
