2017 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by Seoul Design Foundation came to an end. About 280 thousand people participated in 2017 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week through both on-site and online, showing the roaring attention of fashion businesses all around the world and the Seoulites.
2017 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week was kicked off with an opening fashion show on the 27th of last month, and introduced the Seoul Collection fashion shows by top-ranking designer brands and companies around the world, Generation Next Seoul, a professional trade show where the brands of renown and rising designers participated, and mini fashion shows during its 6-day schedule.
Top-ranking designers, including Jinteok, Miss Gee Collection and Songzio, as well as young designers, including Yohan Kang (Charm’s), Taegeun Kim (Yohanix) and Choonho Yoon (YCH), created a harmony and introduced highly sophisticated collections during the Seoul Collection. At the Generation Next mini fashion shows (the gateway to success for rising designers) new designers, including Hanchul Lee, Eunjoo Park (Anne and the CRWD)
and Buyoung Song (By D’by), received attention from the audience with their gutty designs.
Senior buyers from well-known department stores in New York, London, Paris and Asia, and global online select shops, including mytheresa.com participated in 2017 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week to prove the status of K-fashion in global on-line and offline markets.
The organizers selected ‘festival of fashion and culture’ as the theme of 2017 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of DDP, by preparing ‘Young Passion Week’ program, a fashion-motif event where general public was invited, and various sponsorship programs and joint marketing events together with corporate sponsors.
One of the most important contributors to the success of this year’s show was the fashion people who expressed themselves outside the fashion shows, shared the current trend and actively participated in the events - DDP was rocking by youth and passion.
During the Fashion Week, various events (MCM Fashion Box, Best Dresser Awards, etc.) were held for the fashion people, and other programs, such as Fashion Film Festival, seminars by foreign mentors, Handmade Street Market, Fashion Week Food Trucks and so on, provided things to do, see, shop and eat.
On April 1, the last day of Fashion Week: K-Designer Sample Market was held, where samples from the brands participated in the trade show and second-brand products were sold at discounted prices; the fashion models who participated in fashion shows, including Jeongjae Yoon and Seungwhan Kim, sold their personal items at the flea market; and the fashion people gathered to bid farewell to this year’s show at Young Passion Night DJing show.
About 280 thousand people participated in the shows on-site and through online channels, including the official website and application of Seoul Fashion Week, Dong-A TV SNS, Naver V-live, etc., which showed that the interest in HERA Seoul Fashion Week by buyers, media and general public is growing.
“Seoul Fashion Week is not only a global fashion business opportunity where both renown and rising designers can introduce their works, but also a festival for general public who enjoy and love fashion. Growing size of participation by general public during the Fashion Week alone is a great reward to me, because it is a proof of how people are interested in fashion. I will ensure effectiveness of the fashion business by continuing to promote Seoul Fashion Week globally, organize Seoul Fashion Week so that designers, buyers and general public can enjoy, and keep finding ways to promote Seoul Fashion Week into the world’s top 5 fashion week” said Ku-Ho Jeong, the General Director of HERA Seoul Fashion Week.
