ConnectingSeoul’s Future via Smart Mobility Exhibition Source: National Information Planning Division of theNational Information Society Agency 「Future City from the Perspective of Smart City」, Frost&Sullivan(KB Research Institute) 「The Current State andProspect of Smart Mobility」 During Seoul Design Week2016: “Smart City, SmartDesign, Smart Life,” the "Smart Mobility Conference and Exhibition" will be heldfor 11days from September 22 as the main exhibition. Its theme is “SmartMobility of Seoul, Connecting to Seoul’s future.” Smart Mobility is one of the main elements that are organicallyconnected along with smart citizens, energy, technology, infrastructure,healthcare and education to form the conceptual map of the Smart City. It is anevolution of ICT and IoT that reduces people’s inconvenience and guaranteessafety while traveling by sharing information on people and cars, cars and the environmentand mobility in real-time. The Seoul Design Foundation operates the Seoul Design ResearchCenter. The Center researches Seoul’s policies from the public designperspective and design governance that can be applied to improve the citizen’squality of life considering the brand value of Seoul. TBS Design Center, which standsfor taxi, bus and subway, is affiliated to Seoul Design Research Center, whereit mainly researches issues pertaining to the smart city and transportation ofMetacity Seoul’s 206 million residents. A Metacity is different from aMegacity. It is a supercity where information, communication and speedexcessively expand beyond physical boundaries. The upcoming program willdiscuss and exhibit solutions to transportation systems and visions of thefuture from citizen’s perspective. It is expected to open an opportunity wherecitizens, governors and experts will gather to understand and share their ideasabout future transportation. At the fist hall of the “Smart Mobility Exhibition,” the exhibit willfocus on safe the pedestrian environment, green car sharing services, publicbicycles linked with public transport, integrated management system for metrotraffic safety, open galleries, food trucks, personal mobility experience zonesand more. The second exhibition hall will exhibit the research outcomes ofSmart Mobility design collaboration projects that were held by fiveuniversities overseas, including the Royal College of Arts, College forCreative Studies and RWTH Aachen University. The international conference of future transportation and smartmobility environment will be held along with the opening ceremony, on September22. Internationally acclaimed scholars Robert Cervero who is the professor ofCity and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley and Dale Harrow who is the dean ofthe School of Design at Royal College of Art will give the opening address. Atotal of six sessions such as “Latest global trend of Smart Mobility,” “ICT,SMART Connectivity,” “Architecture in Smart City,” “Changes in cars and cardesign trends” and more will held for two days.

Seoul night market ready to beckon people
[The Korea Times] By Kim Da-heeA night market with the concept of "traveling the world in one night" will open Mar. 31 at Hangang Park in Yeouido, Seoul, the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced Wednesday. The SMG had a trial run at the park last October. The market enjoyed considerable popularity, attracting about 210,000 visitors for a week.
